Tips on How to Use Active Verbs Correctly
Tips on How to Use Active Verbs CorrectlyLearning how to use active verbs correctly is a very important aspect of any language course. Sometimes, it is a direct influence from the teachers or textbooks in school. Usually the old concepts are just lost in time and many people have no idea how to use these verbs. There are a few things you should know when trying to learn how to use this powerful verb. The first thing you should keep in mind is that verbs are considered passive and have a negative point. That means that they don't necessarily go with their subject. In English the verb take is a passive verb. Therefore, if you want to make sure you know how to use active verbs correctly, you must choose a subject and an object. To do this, you need to start using -I instead of the subject. The noun will not be directly connected to the verb, and you can use a conjugation suffix to indicate tense. Then, add the suffix -ed for the regular form of the verb and -ing for the regular form of th e passive verb.Using -ed for a regular verb is pretty simple, especially if you are already familiar with English. After a number, there will be a dash, which is known as -is. All the time, you will write the number in front of the dash. This can be used by itself, after a number, or on its own as an imperative. With -in, you will see a beginning and ending for the verb. This is pretty straightforward. So, to illustrate how to use the active verb, here is an example of how you would write a post number in English:In this example, zero is first and then it is followed by the digit followed by a dash and a post number in front of the digit. There are also a few other aspects of the active verb. The ending -a is used in every sentence with this verb, so you should always end a sentence with -ed, like the post number above. There are two words you should know about the use of the active verb. These are infinitive and gerund.

TomboyX Meet the Founders Who Raised $25 Million
TomboyX Meet the Founders Who Raised $25 Million What does it mean to be an âinclusiveâ underwear company? Is it choosing âreal peopleâ for your ad campaigns over skeletal-thin models? Laboring over fit and feel so every body size is represented? Thatâs part of it, say TomboyX founders Fran Dunaway and Naomi Gonzalez. But when your customers exist outside the gender binary, or abandon social norms about the way men and women are âsupposedâ to dress, they donât just want to be comfortable. They want to be cute, too. âItâs about finding clothing that represents how you feel and how you want to present,â Dunaway says. âThat societal construct you see when you walk into a store, [where] its âboy and girlâ and âmen and womenâ ⦠there are a lot of people who ride in that in-between.â Dunaway and Gonzalez, who are a married couple, launched TomboyX as a Kickstarter campaign six years ago, while Dunaway was working as a partner at a media strategies firm, and Gonzalez as a sports massage therapist. They started with tailored polos and button-up shirts, raising $75,000 in 30 days even though they âdidnât know a knit from a woven,â Dunaway says. As they built up a customer base, the couple branched out with a pair of boxer briefs for women; tripling their revenue in six months. People âfelt seen for the first time,â Gonzalez says. They became a full-fledged undergarment brand shortly thereafter. The couple has a team of 30 employees now, and are bringing on more people as they introduce new products, like âpackerâ underwear for trans men, and prints that run the esoteric gamut â" from flannels to popsicles to octopi (see: CUTE). So far, theyâve raised about $25 million in funding. Theyâve got plenty of competition: âstartup underwearâ isnât just a thing, but a thing that venture capitalists are throwing money at (if youâve listened to a podcast lately, youâve probably heard companies like MeUndies and Mack Weldon duking it out in the ad breaks). Inclusive underwear is a different story. And as every brand from Listerine to Stoli Vodka âcelebratesâ Pride month by slapping a rainbow label on their products, TomboyX is the antithesis to all those eye-roll inducing money grabs. Dunaway and Gonzalez arenât disconnected CEOs making a buck off the LGBT community. Theyâre a queer couple making the underwear theyâve always wanted to wear. âClothing for me really is about freedom,â Gonzalez says. âItâs the freedom to be who I want to be and to dress and express myself â" however I choose to do so.â

Humor in the Job Interview - Spark Hire
Humor in the Job Interview - Spark HireMany job interview candidates feel that they are the only ones at the conference table with something to lose. While human resource managers are certainly in a power position, it is important for employers to leave a positive impression so that they can hire the best talent. A sense of humor can be a great part of this positive impression, provided that employers remain professional during the job interview.Humor can be a great tool in a professional job interview. A good sense of humor can put a candidate more at ease, and can help contribute to a great candidate experience. A more casual tone also helps simulate a day-to-day office atmosphere (we hope, anyway). Judging a candidates response to a few jokes gives employers a good idea of how they will fit in with the rest of the office. Humor allows a better glimpse into a candidates personality. In order to keep humor professional during a job interview, try to stick to work-related topics and h umor. Your jokes should complement the substance of an interview, not be the substance of an interview. For example, a joke about the iPhone 84 while talking about social media marketing is totally appropriate. Going on a tangent about your grandmother who cant work her cell phone because one of her cats stole it, and she makes THE BEST muffins is not so appropriate. Jokes about technology, common industry complaints, and workplace behavior can all be appropriate. However, beware of speaking too strongly about people in your office. These jokes should still maintain an overall positive view of your office. Jabs at a coworker who always breaks the printer are probably fine. Making fun of someones work performance or negative attitude is not professional and gives a badeanstalt impression.Although a perfect job interview would stay exactly on topic for the durationthat doesnt always happen. Talk about hobbies and such isnt very productive, but some topics can still be safe and profess ional for employers. Sports and weather are usually fun, neutral topics. Be sure that your jokes about rival sports teams are kind, thoughMany other topics of conversation have unexpected pitfalls. We all know not to joke about race, politics, or religion in a job interview (or ever, really). However, also watch out for things related to hobbies, pet ownership and personal habits. Not only are these topics unnecessaryand bordering on inappropriateto a job interview, but they are giant gray areas for employers. There is no good way to make a joke about these topics without the risk of offending someone. What advice do you have for using humor in job interviews? Five Ways To Use LinkedIn To Support Your Job Search
Five Ways To Use LinkedIn To Support Your Job SearchFive Ways To Use LinkedIn To Support Your Job SearchWhen people think of LinkedIn, the networking aspect is typically the first thing that comes to mind. This is important for your job search because networking is important to your search. Here are five other reasons to use LinkedIn for your job search that are unrelated to direct networkingFind company hiring patternsIf youre interested in a company, look for patterns in the employee backgrounds. Do most come from the saatkorn school or the same company? What specific skills and experiences do they share? How a company has hired before gives you an indication of their preferences and therefore how you might position yourself to be attractive to that company.View career trajectoriesIf you have a specific long-term career target but are unsure how to get there, look at people who have that job and what they did along the way. What degrees and certifications do they have? What were their early jobs? If many people who now have the job you want share the same background, this might be an indication that the career track is very specific. You will want to plan your next jobs to collect those same skills and experiencesGet salary or other unpublished dataUse the Groups and QA functions to collect this data. Look for tightly segmented Groups or ask your questions very specifically i.e., years of experience, specific role, tight geographic area to get the most useful answersElaborate on your expertiseThe Applications feature of LinkedIn enables you to share presentations (SlideShare), document what youve read (Amazon reading list), or link to your blog (several applications, including WordPress). These are substantive ways to elaborate on your expertise beyond your resume. For career changers, where a resume will reflect past experience youd rather not repeat, these applications enable you to showcase different skills.Turn every email into a pitchDuring the job search it is common to reach out to people you may not know well to request an exploratory meeting. You want to keep the email short but you want to share enough about your background to entice the person to meet with you. Attaching a resume is presumptuous. Putting your LinkedIn hyperlink in your signature enables you to subtly share your resume without the attachment. Used in your everyday email signature, your LinkedIn hyperlink effectively turns every email into a potential absatzwirtschaft document, as people may click on your profile and learn more about you without you having to ask.Posted by Caroline Cenize-Levine
